Top 3 Must Haves for Travelling
March 08, 2019 Report
1. PRANA MACHU PICHU MIX
We all get the munchies when we’re travelling, so instead of reaching for some sugar-filled snacks that don’t provide much nutrition, why not grab Prana’s Machu Pichu snack mix? Loaded with healthy fats, fibre, and protein, it’s a great way to keep your hunger down and give you a quick hit of energy.
Almonds — Rich in fibre, protein, monounsaturated fats, vitamin E, manganese, and magnesium. They are also loaded with antioxidants that help to protect against oxidative damage.
Pumpkin seeds —High in phosphorus, manganese, and magnesium with adequate amounts of iron, zinc, and copper as well. Pumpkin seeds also contain antioxidants to help protect against cell damage, as well as fatty acids that contribute to heart health.
Mulberries — They are particularly rich in vitamin C and iron, as well as vitamin K1, potassium, and vitamin E. Mulberries are also classified as an antioxidant.
Brazil nuts — Did you know just 3 brazil nuts per day satisfies your daily intake of selenium? It’s necessary for your immune system to function properly and prevent nerve and cell damage. Brazil nuts are also a great source of potassium, magnesium, calcium, and are a complete source of protein.
Goji berries — Touted for their nutrient density, goji berries are considered to be a superfood. They’re a great source of vitamin C, fibre, iron, vitamin A, zinc, and antioxidants.
Prana’s Machu Pichu mix is great because it isn’t too sweet, but hits the craving sweet spot with just the right amount of crunch. It’s definitely something that’s always in my travel bag when I’m jetting off somewhere, and should be a staple in your on-the-go bag as well!
2. PRANA JIVE COCONUT CHIPS - SPICY CHILI
If I’m looking for something salty with just the right amount of heat that isn’t full of garbage ingredients, Prana spicy chili coconut chips are my go-to. And while coconut seems to be all the craze right now in the health world, you’re getting quite the bang for your buck with this snack.
Coconut supplies a rich source of medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) that are burned immediately as energy instead of circulating in the bloodstream like other types of fats. Which means, if you’re low on energy, popping a handful of these may give you some life!
Not only are these coconut chips a super satisfying snack that tastes great, but coconut is also great for other health reasons:
- High in lauric acid (anti-microbial, anti-viral, anti-fungal)
- Helps boost thyroid function
- Great for skin health
Because coconut is high in fat, it also keeps your feeling full longer, meaning you won’t be reaching for something sugary in the next 30 minutes!
While spicy chili is my favourite flavour, the smokey chipotle and seat salt and pepper flavours are also delicious.
3. SUZIE’S GOOD FATS - PEANUT BUTTER CHOCOLATE
When you’re looking for an energy bar, the last thing you want is something that tastes delicious but is loaded with tons of ingredients.
Suzie’s Good Fats are golden. They’re creamy, delicious, loaded with nutrients, and contain only ingredients you can pronounce. And with only 1g of sugar, they’re keto and paleo friendly!
Made from only clean, wholesome ingredients, the fat blend of peanut butter, coconut oil, and butter provides a quick and clean source of fuel for the body. But besides this, healthy fats are great to:
- Boost energy
- Increase metabolism
- Reduce inflammation
- Improve brain function
- Improve skin health
Not only are you getting all the benefits of the fats, but each bar has around 8g of fibre and 9g of protein, which means you won’t be reaching for another snack anytime soon.
My favourite flavour is the peanut butter chocolate because it tastes like a homemade peanut butter cup, but don’t forget about all of the other delicious flavours!
