Make room for ‘shrooms! No, really. Mushrooms are an excellent source of Vitamin D.
Vitamin D is not only a real workhorse, it is one that many are deficient in. Canadian research shows that up to 73.5% of men and 77.5% of women have inadequate levels. Yikes! We need it to: regulate body systems (immune, neuromuscular), promote bone health, and provide antioxidants. If we are low in D, then there are a number of ways that our body can suffer: more susceptible to colds, flus and infections, heart disease, even our mental health can be impacted. While we can get D through the sun, many of us are sun-shy (me!) or live in climates where year round sun exposure is limited (also me!). This is why I take a Vitamin D supplement.
Unlike the commonplace liquid drops, I have started taking a D capsule made from mushrooms curated by Healthology. This is a great option for vegans and non-vegans alike. WHOLE FOOD VITAMIN D is basically mushrooms that have had a UV treatment. Wild mushrooms are actually an excellent source of vitamin D on their own, but with UV light applied to those grown indoors they produce the same amount of D as ones exposed to natural sunlight. Don’t worry, this is all backed up by science; it is a safe method of meeting our Vitamin D needs, making it all-natural, vegan, real-food sourced and highly absorbable.
I like that the capsules are fairly small and easy to swallow. Each contains 1000 IU of Vitamin D in certified organic form. Let me repeat: ORGANIC. No junk added! Literally there is mushroom, one single ingredient. Couldn’t get much simpler, right? No need to get all complicated when nature is handing out the solution.
I personally get my levels of D tested each year. I don’t mess around when it comes to this important vitamin. HEALTHOLOGY WHOLE FOOD VITAMIN D provides a solid way to keep topped up for optimal functioning.
