Coffee making you anxious? Needing a boost in the morning? Looking to kick start your metabolism? Look no further! Kato Matcha’s ceremonial grade matcha powder can help give you that much-needed boost without the jitters or the typical coffee crash.

My first impression of this product was that I liked the packaging - a small, but not tiny, sleek black tin with an easy to open and sealable lid. Seemingly expensive at first, coming in at about $29.99 with about 25 servings per jar, each serving comes to just over $1 - which if you think about is pretty cheap compared to paying $6 bucks a pop at any cafe. I like that it is USDA certified organic and also that on the label they give you a link to learn more about the farmers that harvested it. I know that's a smart marketing move, but it does make me feel more confident when I buy a product - and makes the company seem more transparent and equitable. Next, and most importantly I love the taste of this Matcha. I have tried many similar products but this has been my favorite so far. You don’t need to use a lot to really taste it- which I find separates it from other brands. Less than a teaspoon mixed with your choice of milk (I use oat) and maybe a little bit of sweetener (I use honey) is enough for an earthy, pleasant, nutty and smooth pick me up. I also add collagen powder to my matcha when I need a bit of extra protein in my day. Every time I drink one of these, I feel a certain level of comfort, feeling like I leave all of my worries behind..

Matcha has many health benefits. Being high in antioxidants, it can help to keep your immune system running strong and keep you looking young all by warding off free radicals. It can also help protect the liver, boost brain function, may help prevent cancer, and promote heart health. It is also known to help assist in weight loss as it contains a compound called EGCG which has been shown to boost metabolism and stop the growth of fat cells. Matcha contains an amino acid called L-theanine, which together with the caffeine found in matcha can help to sharpen alertness and focus, speed up reaction times, and improve memory function. I always make sure to have a cup of this matcha before going to work on an assignment or doing a presentation in front of a room full of people.
