Hemp Hearts - Great Source of Complete Plant Protein!

I love hemp hearts and use them on a daily basis. They are a complete protein, which means they contain ALL the essential amino acids and are comparable to meat by weight! A couple of tablespoons give you at least 10 grams of protein. They have a pleasant, nutty flavour. I like to put them in my smoothies. I also make hemp milk to put in drinks by simply blending 1 part hemp hearts to 4 parts water. They are also great sprinkled on oatmeal or salads. Chocolate craving? Here is a delicious, healthy treat. I use half a frozen banana, 1T flaxseed, 2T almonds & 2T Hemp Hearts, 2T cocoa powder, a teaspoon of Maca powder (an adaptogen with many benefits), a cup of ice and a serving of vanilla vegan protein powder. You need a powerful blender to obliterate the nuts and seeds, so if you don’t have that, you can use almond butter and ground flaxseed. This makes a delicious breakfast or snack!
